Sitting in the Middle of Uncertainty

Some seasons in life feel steady. Predictable. Grounded.
And then there are seasons like this…
where uncertainty seems to echo through everything.
In my work.
In my health.
In things from the past that somehow circle back into the present.
It feels like standing in the middle of a whirlwind, trying to find your footing while everything around you shifts.
And if I’m being honest, my mind wants to spiral with it.
It goes to the “what ifs.”
It searches for answers that aren’t there yet.
It tries to solve everything all at once.
But I’ve learned something over the years—especially through recovery:
I don’t have to solve everything today.
When the uncertainty feels loud, I come back to what’s right in front of me.
I ground myself.
I redirect my thoughts.
I focus on what I can do instead of what I can’t control.
Sometimes that looks like doing something simple and practical.
Sometimes it’s choosing rest.
Sometimes it’s gently pulling my thoughts out of a spiral and placing them somewhere softer.
And right now, I’m sick on top of it all.
So today, grounding looks like slowing down.
Letting things be unfinished.
Trusting that not having all the answers doesn’t mean something is wrong—it just means I’m in the middle of a chapter that hasn’t unfolded yet.
If you’re here too, in a season of uncertainty, I hope you give yourself permission to move gently.
